i've just realised with horror that i haven't put up the pictures keryl and i took with her webcam! thousand apologies, but here they are now :)may i present to you, the adventure of the two beauties in melbourne with too much free time, a webcam and a penchant for taking photos!
i've just spent a lazy saturday afternoon with my mom.. (aww, i can hear you in the background saying what a mommy's girl.. i'm not really, the weekend is usually the only time i'm actually home!) we went off to have delicious XO noodles at west coast, which is something i can never get enough of. oh, except that time when chad's aunty wanted it everyday, then yeah, i got a bit sick of it then! but i digress.
so after stuffing ourselves, ma and i made our way to IMM where we walked around for a bit, looked at all the jewelry stores to drool but not buy (sigh!) but i did end up buying four more little guppies that the uncle at the store had to chase around the tank for (we're very particular about which fish we want!) (i seem to like using brackets don't i?) (i guess they're an easy way to explain things without getting sidetracked..)
i came home and cleaned out my three fighting fish tanks, because they seem to have a rampant algae problem. i scrubbed to my little heart's content, and made sure there wasn't a trace left of that awful green stuff. i have a feeling my fighting fish are quite happy in the makeshift tank i've got them in, which is basically a bit bottle (they're all in different tanks, of course, being fighting fish and all)..
i've just finished a lovely dinner of chicken curry and i'm feeling very lazy! i think i'll go and watch the princess bride in a bit, after having a nice cold shower... it's just so damn hot today.
i also just finished reading memoirs of a geisha for the second time, and i loved it as much as the first time i'd read it. it's just one of those stories that seem to go by so seamlessly, that before you know it, you're read 200 pages, and you still can't put it down.. a must-read everyone!
and i mean, NOW!

i'm the perfect picture of calmness..but that's mainly because my eyes are really tired and i just can't be bothered to feel anything else!

[hmmmmm...beeeeeer]i attended a beer gourmet dinners press conference late this afternoon, where they proceeded to give us six different courses of food (sample sized thank god, i'm still too full to eat dinner!) and six different types of beer to go with it.
homer simpson would have been in heaven, although there wasn't any duff.
some days, i just love my job :)

[soak up the sun]sheryl crowe really got it right when she said that all she wanted to do was soak up the sun. and soak up the sun is what i did! i'm now a shade of slightly bright pink, which i know will turn into a lovely brown in a few days time. at least now my legs aren't so blindingly white anymore!
ahh, i just love weekends like this! i think being in the sun really relaxed me alot. i'm now a picture of serenity!
if only it weren't so humid, so i'd stop feeling so sticky!! i think it's time for another cold shower.
and hey, f1 today was great! go kimi!

[the long soak goodnight]i have to make something very clear. i HATE humidity. i hate the heat, and i hate feeling sticky. i just really hate the humidity.
i had to work today at the heritage festival at cavenaugh bridge, which really wouldn't have been that bad had it not been for the god awful heat and the even worse humidity. i think i must have melted 4 times over. we had a fan in our tent, but it was pretty useless because it was near the back of the tent just blowing onto the floor. kudos to the smart guy who designed it all! i'm sure our floor must have been nice and cool. *rolls eyes*
and don't get me started about the people who decided to participate in the games that we had set up at our stall! once they found out that they didn't have to pay to participate, we had a queue about a mile long! some people told us the game was fixed when they couldn't win, and others just kept trying again and again.. despite the fact that there were about 20 people behind them. it's a really simple game actually.. just use chopsticks to get marbles from one bowl to another (and no, we didn't do anything to the marbles, they were clean!). we also had a game of chantek going on, and one guy came up to us and said 'you gave the other man an umbrella. i'm 78, how can you expect me to play this kind of games? what if i die while i'm playing? why don't you just give me the umbrella.'
geez, i never thought anyone would resort to emotional blackmail just to get a singapore women's weekly umbrella! so we asked him to try the marble game instead, and he ended up winning a sww magnet. which he promptly threw back at us and said 'i'm going to talk to your boss.'
*shakes head*
i just don't understand people sometimes!
so i came home pretty exhausted and went for a loooong wonderful soak in the bathtub. it's one of the things that i love to do when i'm tired or i feel like i need to pamper myself. maybe it's a pisces thing, needing to be near water! but my wonderful soak in the tub was so relaxing i almost fell asleep in there.. don't worry though, i don't think there was quite enough water for me to have drowned!
and now i feel quite blissfully relaxed.. it's only 8 pm and i feel like sleeping already!
i think i'll stay in tomorrow and just veg somemore.. heh!

i do actually! i love those nonsensical conversations that come out of nowhere and just keep going off on some weird tangent that only you and the person you're talking to can understand! and sometimes it's just nice to hear the other person's voice..

that'd have to be my mom.. i called to ask if she could come pick me up! heh.

yes, all the time actually! especially when people realise they've called the wrong number and just slam down the phone like it's my fault. hurmphs!

i think it depends on my mood, the person i'm talking to and what i have to say! sometimes i find it easier to type/write it all out.. but other times i just want to talk.

[island home]here i am, back in this humid island i call home. my flight over wasn't too bad - i managed to get an empty seat next to me (i was originally stuck in the middle) so once we'd taken off i shifted over to the window seat and off i was! but i'm missing melbie already, and i can't wait till i get to go back there again.. i'd typed out another post before, but something went wrong with blogger, and now i cant' remember what i said before!
i know i said 'i wish i could have spent more time with you keryl!!'
i think i also said that i didn't want to go back to work.. hmm, but i feel that way most of the time anyway. tehee :)

skin-not-so-tastici hate allergies. especially when you can't figure out what it is that you're allergic to! i've developed a horrible rash all over my legs, with bits on my neck and arms (i sound like such a freak now!) because of some horrible reaction to god knows what.
it's been driving me crazy because all i want to do is scratch and scratch!
plus i got sunburnt again today when i was having breakfast! *rolls eyes* i think i have enough colour now, although my legs still haven't had the chance to tan!

burn baby burnthat's the motto of my skin because it just loves to burn! i went to the grand prix yesterday and my skin is now a lovely shade of bright pink. but mind you, only on my nose and decolletage. everywhere else is kind of a dark pink, bordering on brown. eventually though, it'll all be a nice brown colour.
except my legs, because i was wearing jeans (dammit!)
but it was wonderful to hear the wail of the those f1 cars again, there really is no sound like it in the world! i managed to catch some pictures of the cars zooming past on my digital camera, but i have to say, they're a bit blurry (those cars are just too damn fast) and after taking three shots i gave up - i took an average of three shots for every one shot that actually had a car in it!
kind of tired today, and i can't believe i've already been here a week.. i've only got one more week left :(

my feet are aching! these comfy slippers that i brought along proved to be not as comfy as i thought they would be! but my poor flat feet have suffered and now i feel like i don't want to move for the next 10 years..which is unfortunate for me because tomorrow we'll be heading out to albert park for the grand prix! which means even more walking.. why oh why haven't they invented teleporting?!
alright, i better head off to bed early, it's going to be a looong day ahead tomorrow!

shopping shopping shoppingi've just realised that most of the things that i've bought so far aren't really for me!
but i guess it's still not too bad bcause i've got bridge road and chadstone to conquer and i'm going to tackle bridge road tomorrow!
the weather here has been getting really lovely - there's a breeze blowing but the sun's always out shining in the sky! i just love melbourne weather like this.. i could do with a slightly warmer temperature (me of no warm clothing) but i guess this'll do for now :)
i took quite a lot of photos today because on my way down to chapel street i stumbled upon an f1 'road show of sorts that was in the city.. they had four f1 cars displayed and a williams BMW car that was there with its engine displayed and all revved up. what a beautiful sound it made! and i took lots of birthday photos too, so once i get back home, i'll download them and stick 'em up!
ooh, and thank you gorgeous lorraine for the lovely lilies that you sent (via arthur mail) and the birthday fax.. i keep forgetting to show it to chad though (since it's his birthday too)
oh, have i forgotten to mention it was my birthday today? *grins* i'm a year older, but i don't think i'm any wiser!

[shopping part one]so today was my first attempt at shopping, and it didn't go *too* badly, although i was expecting to be able to buy more things! so far the shopping count includes - one red sweater, two denim bags (hey, one's big and one's small.. there's a difference!), one pair of sunnies, one denim mini, two necklaces, one pair of earrings, and a shirt for chad (it's really cute, it says 'Somewhere, something went horribly wrong' and it shows the evolution of man, but the last two show a man with a martini glass, and a man reclining in front of the tv)

ahh the wintery weather of melbourne..
everyone's promising that it'll get warmer sometime next week (technically this week since it's after midnight.. yes, i'm anal about these things sometimes!). hopefullly it will though, it's starting to dampen my lovely holiday!
i've been here two days so far, and i'm loving every moment of it. it's really like coming back home to something familiar.. i've rediscovered so many things, and as i was walking around the city today, all these new buildings have just popped up from nowhere! how these buildings come up so fast i don't think i'll ever know.. but i did manage to pop by keryl's place and i spend a lovely afternoon walking around the city showing her all my old hang-outs..
i've decided that this trip is just for ME.
i know it may sound a bit odd to hear me say that, but i think it's time that i really just enjoyed myself, and did everyting that I want to do.. it feels like it's been a long time since i've been able to just let go, and to really live life..
where did it all go?
i think it's time to get it all back!

[MELBIE!]so here i am, after a 6 hour plus journey, still in one piece, although i'm freezing my little tushie off because it's alot colder than i expected (you'd think i'd know better by now huh!) i guess everyone had been telling me how warm it is, so i expected it to be.. well, alot hotter!
the flight over wasn't too bad, it was a pretty full flight, so there went my chances of getting upgraded (like that's every happened to me anyway!) but the wonderful thing about the inflight entertainment system on SQ now is that you can choose to watch whatever movies you want, whenever you want! ok, so if that's not a very new thing, forgive me, it's been about a year and a half since i last took an airplane!
so delighted little me watched 8 mile, punch-drunk love and infernal affair (except the last 10 minutes because we had to land) i watched most of far from heaven as well, but i was kind of sleepy so i kept drifting in and out of the movie..
now, airplane food is something that most people complain about.. and to tell you the truth, i kinda like airplane food! no, i'm not a freak, and i wasn't on drugs during the flight.
*sigh* it's wonderful to be back in melbourne again!
the only bad thing is that i forgot to pack my glasses in, and i broke my sunglasses this morning! argh!
arthur came to pick chad and i up from the airport and we headed straight to a wonderful cafe to have a deluxe breakfast - two eggs sunny side up, bacon, bread, baked beans, mushrooms, sausage and tomatoes. you can't start the day off any better than that!
did i mention how wonderful it is to be back in melbourne again??
