Wednesday, May 29 today was a day of sheer determination and control.after pounding the streets (okay, more like pounding the floors of the shopping centres) with seok bin, i only came home with ONE purchase. a GG>5 top that cost me only $11.70! i'm so proud of myself! not only because i managed to score a bargain, but because i managed to keep myself from buying so many other tops! m)phosis is having a huge sale with almost all their tops at 50%, and i love it because most of the sizes are like large and extra-larges! damn if only i could win the lottery now so i could buy them all! the sad part is that i'm missing the fatboyslim concert that's going on at the moment at zouk. *sobs* housemate c, i hope you're dancing extra hard for me!
Tuesday, May 28 i am no longer uninitiated!over the long weekend (by the way, HAPPY VESAK DAY everyone!) i've finally gone to see spiderman, and star wars episode II: attack of the clones! i have to admit, i think i might have liked star wars just that little bit better than spiderman, mainly because i'd just heard so much about spiderman that i might have been expecting it to be a little more than it was. but one thing's for sure, i'm definitely going to look forward to all the spiderman sequels! tobey maguire was a great choice in casting for spiderman, and even willem dafoe made a pretty good villian.. i'm not very sure about kirsten dunst at mary jane, but at least she wasn't such a bad choice that it spoilt the whole movie. i'd love to have spiderman's abilities, it seems so fun to be able to just swing from building to building! and hey, that spider sense has got to be handy.. i wonder if i can sense sales... hmmm! and although i've never been that huge a star wars fan, i've known enough about it to know that there are some serious fanatics out there! i can't even remember which of the star wars trilogy i've seen (and i've yet to see the phantom menace) but attack of the clones was visually enthralling! natalie portman is just absolutely gorgeous! the light sabres were, of course, very cool and samuel l jackson's purple sabre was probably the best! and although i had images of ewan mcgregor in his trainspotting character, i concede - he made a good Obi Wan Kenobi. may the force be with episode 3! that's another movie i'll be looking forward to! ![]() Take The Ewan McGregor Test! on a little side note, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY chad! it's our three year anniversary today, so here's to us sweetie, for now and forever :)
Sunday, May 26 chad, my mom and i went off to see my maternal grandma today, and i still think she's such a sweetie! she's been through two strokes in the last few years, and although her speech is still a little slurred, she tells the most amazing stories! and they're usually quite funny too... it was the first time she'd met chad, and because her short term memory isn't too good, she couldn't remember his name, and kept thinking he was jack. in the end though, she started telling us about how she thought rock hudson was the most handsome actor around, and told chad that he was just as handsome as rock hudson was!although i think she was a little traumatised by the fact that rock hudson turned out to be gay in the end, and she couldn't understand why he wanted to be a girl.. ahahahaha. 'nice fellow' she pronounced after meeting chad, 'very handsome' she added! i'm glad my mama approves!! ![]()
Saturday, May 25 i went to see the t'ang quartet last night, and although they don't seem to be as cute as i remember them to be, they certainly played much better than i expected. i could be a little biased though, because i've always loved classical music, and having been in a quartet before, i've got a bit of a soft spot for any quartet that plays.well.. except for the bizarro quartet that i watched with lorraine in melbourne.. they were good, except they kept playing morose music, and for one of their pieces they kept using everything else except the strings on their instruments to play. hmm.. on the other hand, i guess it takes real talent to have come up with a piece lik ethat in the first place!! anyway, i digress. it was the 10th anniversary of the t'ang quartet, and it's hard to believe that they've been around for so long already! i've actually met two of the members before - leslie and lionel tan, at another quartet performance. my mom marched up to them and said 'aren't you guys from t'ang quartet? this is my daughter!' ahahaha, i think i must have the only mother around who likes to introduce her daughter to lots of guys! (thanks ma!) today was another girly day, i met up with leanne, sharin and sharon for lunch and a whole lot of shopping! i love the fact that the great singapore sale is on at the moment, because i managed to get a top, two eyeshadows, a nail polish, a nail polish corrector pen plus some hair clips! and everything together for under $50! am i good or am i good?! i love girly days like this, all you need to do the whole day is gossip and shop! hehehhe! sweetie chad told me that he waved to president clinton today!! and president clinton waved back!!!!!! ![]()
Wednesday, May 22 my photos from KL are up on my website!so go have a look! ![]() Find your emotion!
![]() You are 20% evil! [?] You're pretty non-evil. You're a little bit off of being all good, but you tend to still be orderly and peaceful. You aren't the bad person at all...for the most part. i have returned! triumphant with shopping bags full of shoes and bags and clothes! i've just spent the last 5 days with my 5 gal pals in kuala lumpur! it was great fun having my girlfriends with me on a holiday (although we still wished that keryl could have come along with us...)it all started when we met up at the copthorne hotel to catch the nice bus up to KL.. no, i'm not describing the bus, that's what the bus service is called! we climbed into the bus and settled down for the 5 hours and 30 minutes it was going to take us to get up the Malaysian's capital. i was kinda tempted to sms chad when i passed the border to say i was now in enemy territory but i thought i'd better not, who knows what kind of surveillance goes on in Malaysia! it only took us about 4 hours to get there, thanks to the skill (and speed) of the bus driver! the ascott where we stayed at was just absolutely gorgeous! there's an outdoor swimming pool on the 22nd floor which overlooks the whole skyline of KL, with a great view of the Petronas Towers and KL tower! ping wen was even tempted to buy a potted plant for the apartment on our first day, and we all wanted to gather up our money and buy the apartment that we were in so we could move in! but i think it's going to cost a lot more than what all of us had brought :P our apartment had three tvs, a vcd and dvd player, a huge big stereo, two bathtubs, three toilets, a kitchen chockful of utensils, a dishwasher and a pretty damn big fridge (which of course we managed to fill with snacks and drinks!) there was central air conditioning that was a blessing after a day out in the KL heat. it's a little hotter and more polluted in KL, but it did rain on monday much to everyone's surprise! we got around to all the major shopping malls like Lot 10, Starhill,Mid-Valley and Sungei Wang by cabs, and we usually had to travel in an envoy because there were 10 of us (including 3 of ping wen's guy friends and one of their girlfriends) cabs tend to like to rip off tourists and you have to be careful of drivers who don't want to use their meters! KLCC reminded me of takashimaya, with the only difference being that it was just a stone's throw away from the ascott, so we could walk there instead of having to take the bus/train or whatever to get there! we did get adventurous one night and took the train back from chinatown at jalan petaling, to KLCC. chinatown was like heaven for me! all the bags! all the sunnies! all the watches!! it was like being at any other pasar malam back home, but i guess it felt a little different because everything was priced in ringgit and so much cheaper! it was brimming full of fake/rejected brand name stuff, but chinatown itself was also extremely hot and stuffy, and by the time all of us had managed to walk through all the stalls, we were all covered in sweat and dirt - not a great combination! all in all, we all shopped like there was no tomorrow.. okay, so maybe the only one who really shopped like there was no tomorrow was seok bin, who even managed to throw in a haircut by toni and guy while she was there, but we all managed to grab some great bargains and have a feast while we were at it! we were so delighted by the fact that our kitchen was so well stocked, that we cooked up a feastful lunch one of the days that we were there complete with mash potatoes, steamed veggies, corned, mushroom soup, roasted chicken, mushroom bacon omelette and ice cream cones for dessert! yummm.. i think i must have put on weight from all the food and snacks that we kept eating! two of ping wen's friends - ping sern and zhi zeng (i hope that's spelled right!) stayed with us on the last night, and proceeded to label themselves our 'manservants' for the rest of the trip! the girls and i, of course, were very delighted with that and made sure we got full use out of them! ahahhahah.. so i had a final tally of two tops, two pairs of shoes, three bags, one pair of capri pants, one bottle of dog shampoo (hey, it promised to get rid of body odours!), one packet of betta fish food, and three shirts for chad.. and very very tired feet when we climbed back onto another nice bus (for which we *almost* missed) to get back to singapore.. arms and legs heavy with the walking and shopping we'd done, stomachs full with the food we'd eaten, and memories all stocked up with the fun we had! i'd never been to KL before this (or i have but i was too young to remember) so it was really fun seeing everything for the first time! i took plenty of polaroids and digital photos, so once i get those uploaded i'll post them up on my website :) thanks girls, for making this holiday really memorable! maybe once we all save up again, we can go for another one.. who's up for australia on the next round?! ![]() which Episode II character are you? Probably the greatest Jedi Knight of all. Like Obi Wan, you are wise and keep your feet on the ground at all times. You will not be outsmarted by anyone. You are always faithful to your friends. Be careful though, danger lurks around every corner - you could even be betrayed by those closest to you.

Tuesday, May 14 argh *ptui ptui*my dad's got a weird way of doing things, and he's put lemon in the water that we all drink from in the fridge. except that it doesn't taste like lemon, it tastes more like it's dish washing liquid. bleahh. i think it's time to get rid of those two bottles anyway, it's been sitting in our fridge for the longest time already, and never gets washed, it just keeps getting topped up and put back into the fridge. can't be very healthy! but then again, i don't think my dad's main concern in life is hygiene anyway.. *shudder* i've just spent the last 5 days at chad's place because arthur's been staying with him, and i'm exhausted! it's hard trying to bring someone around, when they're not quite sure what they want to do anyway. so everyday we'd troop out of the house in the god awful blazing sun, walk around town, get tired, sit down for a coffee, troop around somemore, have another coffee, melt a bit more in the sun, and then meet chad for dinner at night. try doing that 5 days in a row, plus not getting much sleep at night.. that makes for one slightly spaced out girl! and on top of that i've been trying to plan and organise the KL trip that my gal pals and i are taking.. i'm quite looking forward to that actually, it's the first time that we'll be taking a trip together (i really wish that you could come keryl!!), and there'll be lots of shopping and eating for us to do! hee! some nice girl bonding time.. i think my memory's gone downhill ever since i started work with harper's bazaar.. i've been forgetting appointments that i've made with people, or things that i was supposed to ask someone, something i was supposed to go and buy, or do.. and it's rather unsettling! i've never been this forgetful before, and i feel so helpless when someone says 'hey, weren't we supposed to meet today?' and i'd be like 'er.. we were?!' *big sigh* maybe it's time to do a bit of meditation, and get my mind centered again.. *ohmm* argh, i've still got that dish washing detergent after taste in my mouth! *ptui ptui*
Sunday, May 12 HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!i've spend the weekend at my second home (chad's place) where arthur is staying for a few days while he's in town for a little R&R. the two guys decided to adopt my mom for the day and we all went out for a mother's day lunch together. a bit of a let-down though, because we wanted to go for the famous XO fish noodles that my mom loves, but when we got there we realised we were about 15 minutes late.. the store had closed for the afternoon. can you believe that they're doing so well, they only have to open from 11 30am to 2 pm for lunch time! but hey, we had lunch that was alright, and when you gotta eat you gotta eat! A village in Brazil marked its second annual "Orgasm Day" yesterday, launched to try to boost the satisfaction level of local women. Officials had found that 73 per cent of local women were not satisfied by their partners, leading to cheating and separations. wooohoo women power i say!
Saturday, May 11 what a day of firsts it was for me yesterday.. and all thanks to housemate c, who opened up my eyes to the world of singapore..well, okay so maybe not really, it was partly fate and things like that, but it happened with her, so i'm making her the one that opened my eyes up to it! we met up first at outram mrt station, because it was the first place that we'd ever met each other! ain't that sweet? but no, we didn't wear the same outfits.. ahahaha.. housemate c brought me to this chinese department store/emporium type thing, called yue hwa, which is chockful of cheap stuff! it was quite fun actually, trawling through all the bargains, it wa certainly nice to have a bit of a change from the normal stores in town (not that i miss them, i think i'm too much of a shopaholic to miss them!!) we headed off to lunch at macdonalds, where i had the K burger! suggested of course, by the housemate! ahaha, just what would i do without you cindy sim!? but wait! the day didn't stop there! we hopped onto a dodgy bus to get into town. i think the bus needed major servicing, because everytime the driver tried to change gears, everyone in the bus got major whiplash.. eventually the bus slowed to a crawl (no gears i suspect!) and then halted to a stop. about one bus length from the bus stop! and ladies and gentlemen, may i present with you - the first time i've been on a bus that's broken down! ahahahahahahah! (i'm never taking 124 again!!) so by 2 pm, i'd had three firsts already! not bad i'd say, for a friday afternoon.. we walked around far east plaza for a little while after that, which i haven't been to for years! and then lorraine and arthur came along to meet us. arthur's down from KL visiting for the weekend, so with three girls out shopping, we dragged him through the stores. heh! at least he's not one of those guys that just wants to stand outside a store and wait for his girlfriend (or the girls he's with) to finish.. arthur actually walked through the stores with us, made his usual funny comments about the clothes ('that one looks so AH MA!!' 'that one looks like a curtain!') and did the guy thing of carrying our bags. it sure is handy to have a guy around when you're shopping sometimes. heh! we trekked through orchard, moved onto the citylink mall, and then trekked through suntec after a two hour pitstop at olio dome for coffee and ghost stoies (my friends just seem to be full of ghost stories!). we finally decided we were hungry around 9 30pm, and so headed off to S-11 outside the National Library to have a bite there.. (ooh, that's another first, i've never been there before either!) so in the space of a day, my dearest housemate c allowed me to experience 4 firsts, all within about a 3 kilometre radius! i think i really must be missing out on alot of singapore!
Wednesday, May 8 just got this link from another blog (sorry! i forgot to ge the link before i closed the window)but it's great for nicole kidman, anti-tom cruise fans like me! heh! This is a little something that housemate c sent to me.. it's quite insightful to what life is like at our age! Being Twenty-Something They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now. You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you. You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you. You miss the comforts of college... of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren't so great after all. You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and don't want in life. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward. You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person. One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot start to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for yourself. and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender! What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out! Send this to your twenty-something friends. maybe it will help someone feel like they aren't alone in their state of confusion.

Sunday, May 5 i've just given the smelly furball a bath! there's been fur all over my bedroom floor for the longest time, but then again, all the floors in the house have been covered with fur every since she arrived! we've all just given up trying to get rid of it.. we just wear slippers around the house now! since my sister moved out, pebbles has been spending alot more time in my room though, i think it's because i've moved the furniture about, and hey presto! suddenly there was so much more space for her to explore! plus i think she's trying to escape from the heat at night, when i turn on the aircon.*looks around* perhaps it's time to clean up my room a little! it seems like a never ending cycle.. if only things just knew where their proper spot was, and we wouldn't have to put them back where they belonged.. they'd just move there themselves! i'm trying to search for a wallpaper for my desktop at the moment, but all i get are those #(^*#$&^(@)?!?#(@*~ popup windows! they should just call them pesky windows instead.. i've never had any use for a popup window before!! yesterday was a day of accomplishments! i met chad for a bit of lunch (burger king mushroom swiss.. mmmmmmmmmm) and we headed off to the heeren to buy a present for his stepmom's birthday. i found this gorgeous two-toned pink/dark pink shawl for her (she loves pink! and thank you housemate c for the suggestion!) and a black one for myself. and i finally found a pair of sunnies for myself!! i'll miss my old ones though, they were very jackie o, and they'd only cost me 20 bucks! chad found work shoes and work shirts for himself too, although i'm still eyeing that red/black pinstripe shirt that we saw at inwear matinique. it may sound a bit boring, but just wait till you see the shirt! looked realllllllly good on chad.. *drools* we watched the scorpion king yesterday as well.. i guess it was kind of what i expected.. lots of dramatic fight scenes, the love interest wearing very little thrown in, the fumbling sidekick, and of course, the good guys winning at the end of the day! not too bad lahh, it was good entertainment, just to get your mind off the world for a bit! i'm still looking forward to watching spiderman, but i just hope that i'm not going to expect too much from it by the time i get round to watching it! that's what happened when i watched forrest gump.. everyone kept going on and on about how bloody brilliant it was, so by the time i watched it, i was quite disappointed.. i think i better go watch spiderman soon!! ozzy my fighting fish is feeling a bit paternal i think.. he's been forming these bubbles by the edge of the tank, and that's what fighting fish do when they're ready to mate.. unfortunately for poor ozzy, i don't have any female fighting fish anywhere nearby! however, i've got a female guppy that looks like she's about to give birth any minute now! i've had to put her in a separate tank, because guppies are in the habit of eating their young. tsk tsk! help a cause! just go to save or delete. i'm a sucker for causes.. unless it's those emails promising that for every mail sent, the person with a boob on his forehead and a donkey attached to his ass will get 3 cents. bleah. when will people realise that NO ONE is tracking those emails? and it's impossible to count who forwards the mail to who! aural pleasure - simple kind of life by no doubt
Saturday, May 4 ![]() Which Nokia handphone are you? hey, that's my phone! and yea, i do love it, even though other new phones have come up! i like evenings like this.. because we all sit around and laugh at ourselves, we laugh at each other, and we laugh at the world. i've just come back from a dinner with my friends.. my 'core' group of gal pals - pingwen, keryl, sharon, sharin and seok bin (although seok bin didnt join us tonight.. something about a cleopatra look.. hmm) have all known each other for almost 10 years now. TEN YEARS! i can't believe that i'm that old that i have friends i've known for over a decade! we've been through thick and thin together, seen each other at our worst - big bangs, big glasses, braces, puppy fat, chubby faces.. the list goes on and on! but i'm glad that i've got such a great group of pals, because they always cheer me up, even when i don't really need cheering up! ahaha, if that makes any sense :P we all met up for a korean dinner at heeren, which was absolutely delicious! i've been wanting to have korean food for a while.. the last time i had really good korean food was back in melbourne (which i'm still missing like a terrible ache in my heart) and we all hopped over to the cafe next door to have some dessert. chad had fish and chips there because he joined us a little late, having come from the office (my poor darling is working so hard!) i was black-shirt shopping with lorraine today.. every girl needs a good black shirt you know! but of course she was the one looking for the shirt, and i was the one that ended up buying one :P but after we decided it was time for a break, we had a good time just sitting and chatting.. or exchanging opinions as i call it! :) and thanks to housemate c for giving me the most brilliant idea for a birthday present for chad's stepmom. THANK YOU HOUSEMATE C!
Friday, May 3 i have tanlines!can you believe that? after all these months of being as a white as a piece of paper, i finally have myself some tanlines. and add to that rosy cheeks too! i must be on a roll! i still look relatively pale next to everyone else, but hey, at least i've got a bit more colour to me now! *grins* aural pleasure - the moulin rouge 2 soundtrack come and get me boys!
Wednesday, May 1 Sometimes even crooks have to work for a living. Disappointed with the money they found in the safe at a Starbucks coffee shop, armed bandits resorted to serving lattes and cappuccinos at the drive-through window to beef up their booty, Washington police said.i've been painting glass most of yesterday, and my nails look like i've been eating with my hands and not bothering to wash them off! i swear it's not food! it's the paint! but i do feel quite good about it, because i've finally finished a couple of glass panes that have been sitting around for the longest time not doing anything at all.. so now two faries have finally got their backgrounds settled, and can continue on in life as decorative pieces! hee! :) today is moving day for my sister :( she's going to move out for a couple of months to live with my cousin. the room that we both share is just getting a little too small for 20 somethings with a penchant for clothes. there's a permanent pile of clothes at the foot of our bed (in what's supposed to be the clean laundry pile) and somehow it just keeps growing and growing, coz there's no more space in the closet! and we are girls of course, so we'd rather find more closet space, then give away any of the clothes! eheheh..
