stress stress
had quite a few things on my mind lately.. hopefully they'll all have an answer to them soon..

it's been quite a jobful weekend though! the recruit section in the saturday papers yielded SIX jobs for me to apply to! that's not to say that i'll get a response from any of them, but hey, at least i'm stepping up my efforts a bit eh?

i've been feeling a little sluggish the last few days.. i think a god-awful diet probably hasn't helped it at all either.. so from today, i'm going to make a concious decision to eat healthily, and at least cut down on all those desserts. hmm.. maybe it's time to head down to the gym again for another gruelling session of torture my body! but it's for my greater good! as i keep telling myself :P

i've just discovered the CSI website for the show.. i just absolutely love love love that show! and the website is pretty damn cool too!

the whole day today, i spent job searching.. hopping from one website to another to another to another looking for jobs. not an easy thing to do at all! but in the end i managed to find a grand total of THREE jobs to apply for! woohoo! i'm sure the interviews are going to start rolling in now (and if no one out there can tell, i'm being sarcastic!). so maybe by the end of next month i could be either a conference producer, a producer/presenter for mediacorp radio, or an assistant producer for channel newsasia! heh!!

i've finished watching the last of the filmfest movies that we got tickets for.. the last one - queenie in love was quite good actually! it had the right combination of wit, storyline and character depth to keep me interested. and hey, it was in english, so that was a good start!!

it was my mom's birthday yesterday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!) and i think she had a pretty good time.. we went to the hairdresser's the day before, and got ourselves all prettied up. i just love going to the hairdressers.. everytime i walk out of the salon, i always feel on top of the world, like i look my best and that no matter what happens, at least i know i look good! *grins* mom and i did a little shopping after that at raffles city, where i saw the most gorgeous ring at perlini's.. except that it was 119 dollars! and i don't think i want to spend that much on a ring.. but it's alright, after the movie yesterday, there was a cute store in the cinema complex that was selling this great red swarovski crystal ring (whether or not it's real swarovski is another thing!) but it's a square design, with 25 crystals! i love it to bits!

whoops! it looks like i haven't written for a few days..
here a couple of things i remember from what happened:

1) being mightily impressed with these two ah bengs on the bus the other day.. a woman walked up with a stroller and a toddler, and one of the ah bengs immediately held the boy so that he wouldn't fall over.. and then picked the boy up and put him down on his seat (the ah beng of course got up first) and then his friend next to him stood up and gave the mother his own seat. two ah bengs did that! i just felt ashamed that i hadn't done anything but just watched.

2) that the man who wasn't there is a brilliant movie! the coen brothers must be one of the best teams in the hollywood industry, and the movies that they come up with are so refreshing and such a delight to watch. billy bob thornton, for all his eccentricities, is really such a great actor.. which lead to chad and i thinking that maybe all the most eccentric actors are the best! plus he's married to angelina jolie, and she's a pretty damn good herself! the film's in black and white, which i think was a very very artistic move by the coen brothers because it only added to the feel and the mood of the film, and made it a perfect package. although their films are not commercially popular, i think they should be!

3) i also went to watch blade 2, which has a whole lot of action and lots of vampires.. (what else would you expect?!) it wasn't money well spent, but it wasn't any money lost either (on the tickets that is) so maybe it's one of those movies that will grow on me eventually!

4) went to the gym with sharon, and we wanted to go swimming afterwards, but only got as far as floating about in the pool (we had lunch right before jumping into the pool!) before the thunder and the lightning started showing up, and we had to go :( i think i'm not fated to have a tan!

a little joke for the day :

It's a sunny morning in the Big Forest and the Bear family is just waking up. Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in his small chair at the table. He looks into his small bowl. It is empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?" he squeaks.
Daddy Bear arrives at the table and sits in his big chair. He looks into his big bowl. It is also empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?" he roars.
Mummy Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from the kitchen and yells, "For Pete's sake, how many times do we have to go through this?
It was Mummy Bear who got up first.
It was Mummy Bear who woke everybody else in the house up.
It was Mummy Bear who unloaded the dishwasher from last night and put everything away.
It was Mummy Bear who went out into the cold early morning air to fetch the newspaper.
It was Mummy Bear who set the table. It was Mummy Bear who put the cat out, cleaned the litter box, and filled the cat's water and food dish.
And now that you've decided to come down stairs and grace me with your presence.... listen up because I'm only going to say this ONE more time.......

I HAVEN'T MADE THE %@*# PORRIDGE YET!!!"

i'm hotheaded!
no no, i'm not angry at anything, or upset about something.. i've just got a showercap on my head, with a whole headful of hair dye slapped on (L'oreal's Feria Brilliant Bordeaux!) i guess dyeing your hair is just one of the fastest ways of getting a change! *Grins* i admit.. i dyed my hair because i was getting kinda bored with it! i've been trying to look for a new hairstyle.. but i've yet to find one that 'speaks' to me.. so i guess i'll have to stick with the hairstyle i have now..

there was a slight change of plans from yesterday, yes my mom and i did manage to get ourselves down to spotlight to get material (YAY! the bag making can start!) but we didn't manage to get my Panasonic Lumix camera until today! my lovely nokia phone is back in my hands again, so i can finally see who's calling me, and who i'm calling too! it feels slightly odd though, i think i was getting used to my sister's old motorola phone, which she'd lovingly painted with sparkles! there's just nothing more fun in telecommunications than a red sparkly phone!
the only downer today was the terribly terribly hot weather that we've been having.. the sun just seems determined to bake us all alive while we're going about our lives.. when will it ever stop!?!

it doesn't really feel like a thursday to me.. kinda feels a bit more like a saturday or sunday night.. maybe not working has something to do with it.. there's less dates and appointments to keep track of, and if there's nothing to do, you don't have to sit around in the office trying to look busy, i can just sit at home and not look busy at all! *stares at the wall*

just reading a bit of news.. this is what you call hardcore tourists!
Tourists Stray Into Bethlehem War Zone
Two Japanese tourists, eager to visit Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, were so engrossed in their guide book Wednesday they did not notice they had wandered into a war zone.

alright, now it's onto a night of dvd watching with chad!

today was family day.. my mom and i had lunch with my cousin, su mei, where we stuffed ourselfs with lots of prawn-filled food (all three of us loooove prawns) and then headed over to parkway parade for a spot of shopping.. su mei's starting a new job later on this week, and she said that she needed to update her wardrobe a little, because up till now she's been going to work in sneakers and jeans! lucky thing! ahaahah.. but it was a fun afternoon because i got to pick up some great bargains, and hey, that's always a good feeling! *grins*

yesterday i worked on getting started with my bag making.. so far the bag count is.. well... one and a half! i made a cute little coin purse just to get the hang of the sewing machine (it's new!) and then made my mom a handphone case for her to put her ancient brick in.. unfortunately we both failed to realise that the material i'd been using was reaaaaaally old, and after one day of use, it started to split all over the place! and it was no fault of the sewer's! the material was splitting in the middle, not near the seams!

tomorrow i'm off to spotlight to get more materials to make more bags! but not before i stop by to collect my digital camera from Panasonic (i'm getting the Panasonic Lumix!) and drop off my Nokia phone for repairs.. the screen died on me last night, and even though i can still make calls and recieve calls, i can't tell who i'm calling and who's calling me! *argh!*

and i've just given everyone a three day update on my life!
hah!

Finns have started wondering if their spirit of fairness has gone too far after Anssi Vanjoki was fined $A193,700 for doing 75 kmh in a 50 kmh zone. In Finland fines are based on the offender's income - the Nokia executive earns almost $A10 million a year.

i'm not sure which to be more amazed at - the fact that Finland has fines based on income (which is a bloody good idea if you ask me!), the fact that he had to pay $193,700 for a fine, or the fact that the guy earns $10 million a year!!!!

i watched monty python's life of brian over the weekend, and it's one of the funnnnnnniest movies that i've ever watched (aside from the pure slapstick ones!) but i just couldn't help laughing and laughing.. it's such a classic film, with no great big special effects or computer generated characters and the like, except for this one bit with an alien space craft, that ... well.. i still don't get, but hey, the rest of the film's humour and wit certainly make up for it!

I also watched an italian movie from the filmfest with chad called the travelling salesman.. oddly enough, it made me feel like i was back in melbourne again, stuck in the radio theatre at RMIT watching an obscure art film for my film class. it was.. an interesting film to say the least, i had a tough time following the plot, and a couple of people walked out halfway through the film (that's one thing i can never ever do.. i always want to see how the damn thing ends, even if i can't understand it! the only time i walked out of a film was in class when i was too sick to keep watching!!) the film had some great shots, and i always love a film that has great cinematography. if only i could have understood it a little clearer!

and right after the movie finished, chad and i walked out the theatre.. to a sky that was rumbling and flashing lightning! ohhh boy! it was a good thing that we just made it to bugis junction before it started to pour reaaaaaally heavily.. although there was a little debate at the bus stop about whether we should make a run for it in the (not so heavy) rain to bugis or take a bus home. we figured we'd wait in bugis because even if we took the bus home, we'd still have to walk in the rain to get back to his place! and hey, there's shopping in bugis!! and i exercised self restraint when i didn't buy a $10 handbag.. although now that i think about it.. hmmm!

there was a formula one race on last night at the italian race circuit of imola.. it was a pretty mundane race actually.. not much happened, no one crashed into anyone else, and as usual, michael schumacher won the race! not that i'm not glad he did.. i'm a ferrari fan .. and i'm also a BMW fan, so it's a bit hard to cheer for them both when they're the top two teams! hopefully though, the rest of the season will be more interesting..

we went to have supper with my mom last night at jurong kechil after the race... lots of prata with murtabak and mee goreng! *yum* we're such greedy little pigs, but at least we planned ahead and didn't eat much for dinner (just lots of watermelons!) so by the time supper rolled around, we were very hungry and definitely in the mood for the food!

i've spend the afternoon working and pounding away on my website, which i hope is now fully functional.. there were the usual glitches of things not showing up where they were supposed, or not showing up at all! damn the html language!
but i think i've got all the bugs worked out for now, although i have to admit that the start page is still my most favourite :P
maybe i'll do a complete revamp of the whole entire thing again when the mood strikes.. that's how it always starts doesn't it?

i was a complete ball of hyperactivity earlier this afternoon.. i tend to get that way when i get frustrated with something (like the time we were watching the others in a cinema, and these six girls just kept GIGGLING through the whole entire thing at the most inappropriate times! i couldn't stop fidgeting after that because i was so worked up!) but that's what happened to me this afternoon because i've been searching for my two beloved (well, absolutely beloved now because i can't find them) shirts that i bought while i was in melbourne. i KNOW i packed them in with me when i came back here, but they just seemed to have disappeared completely. i know we've got a laundry black hole here, but something disappearing for three months is a little longer than it takes for my clothes to get back to me. especially since i don't remember having worn either one of them since i've returned. but i KNOW that they're around somewhere, just for the life of me i can't figure out where! ARGH!
*pulls out more hair*
and that's why i managed to finish my website today.. because i had so much damn fidgety energy in me that i couldn't sit still long enough to do anything else!

but hey, at least i managed to get SOMETHING out of it!

which "monty python and the holy grail" character are you?

this quiz was made by colleen

and good news!
Is it all over for Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz? According to reports in the press, the toothsome twosome have split up, with some blaming the presence of Tom's ex-wife, Nicole Kidman. Penelope is said to have flown home to Madrid, where she is being comforted by her family. There are suggestions that Pen was furious with Tom when he spent Christmas with Kidman and their two children in Australia. To add insult to injury, Cruise refused to accompany his girlfriend to the Oscars, and then declined to say that he loved her in an interview. The split is sure to re-ignite the rumours that their relationship was nothing but a publicity stunt to promote the film they made together, Vanilla Sky. And as for those pesky gay rumours, well, did they ever go away? (from Peoplenews.com)

i guess tom just can't do without nicole can he? and i KNEW it was all a publicity stunt for vanilla sky!!!

i hope this means that at least for today, the weather will be nice and cool, i know singapore is supposed to be a tropical island and all, but hey, even we need a break from the hot weather sometimes!
what a nice start to the week though.. even i was getting a little annoyed with the sun, and i love the sun! well.. perhaps that's not true, i only love the sun when i'm in a swim suit getting ready to go for a swim.. ahahaha :P

Flowers in the Attic it's called, and it's in this cozy little corner of the annex at the heeren. *sigh* i can't believe that i've managed to find a store that's got such delightful stuff, i just wanted to grab everything off the shelves and buy it all (of course, credit limits, parents and common sense prevented me from doing that.. spoilsports!) but it's definitely a store that i want to keep going back to, just to have a look at what other great stuff that they've brought in!

FLOWER by kenzo
Your character is ...
Natural, strong and individualistic

You love exhilarating outdoor activities and being close to nature. Your image is understated and relaxed. Style is not necessarily at the top of your mind. You don’t need outside confirmation to feel good about yourself. You are comfortable in your own skin. When you blossom you steal the show. While you have high energy and an "up-for-anything" attitude you are still an earthy character. Overall you are natural, strong and individualistic.

i've got a new look for my blog! and one that took a couple of hours to try and tweak. i've been having problems with my IE (due to my itchy fingers) so when it finally worked i ws very happy, and then my msn messenger decided to work after that to, so i was even happier! and then i found a nice template for my blog, so the day was topped off pretty well...

i like days like this.. i've changed out of one set of pyjamas right into another.. i've done everything i had to do today at my own pace, and in my own time. the only bad thing about it was the PEST that lives in my home. she lurks around the house, trying to peer into my room when i'm at home. she didn't even realise i was home this morning, and told someone who'd called that i was out! and she said that she even peeked into the room to see if i was here or not.. which i think i know for a fact that she didn't, because i would have definitely heard the door open. she even came to talk to me this morning.. *shudder* i don't know why she bothers, surely she must know that none of the family really bothers with her!
if anyone's a little lost here, i'm talking about my grandmother. she's lived with us for the past god knows how long, and she's not a nice lady at all, she's scheming and shrewd, and she'll try and screw the whole family of our money if she could! (hey, that kinda rhymed!)
she thinks i'm really dumb - wahh, you know how to sew ah? wahhh, you know how to cook ah?
no no, all these years i've just sat in a corner and cried everytime i was hungry or needed a button sewn on!
*rolls eyes*
she loves my sister to bits, of course, because my sister is (in my grandma's words) exactly like my dad. and my dad is her precious son (who doesn't really give a shit about her!) and my mom and i.. well, in her eyes we're just inconveniences.
i think if we had half a chance, we'd kick her out and give pebbles her room! heck, i'd rather just leave her room empty and use it for glass painting and sewing!
isn't it weird how we just tolerate family? and the sad thing is, no one else wants her either. imagine how bad a person must be, if your own children don't even want you around..
i hope i never end up like that!
for one thing, i know i'm much too noisy to lurk around!

the one i've got (who's still nameless as of now) is a wonderful bright blue, with a greenish tinge to his tail, that has splashes of red near the outer part of his tail... if i'm not wrong, he's a butterfly fighting fish.. i've put a little sucker fish in there, so at least the tank won't get dirty too fast.. they seem to have become pretty good friends already, kind of swimming around each other (don't worry, i'm pretty sure the fighting fish isn't trying to start a fight with him!)

alright, chad and i have decided that the new fish's name shall be ozzy, since the last one was izzy. and i think i'm pretty sure it's a male. if not then... oh well, he'll have to go through life with a male name!! ahahahha..
